President's Palette
Spring is here. Around our
house we call it "green up". . .every tree and shrub has tiny fresh
green leaves budding out , some flowers and shrubs are beginning to
bloom, wildflowers are blooming along the roadside. . .it is just a
wonderful time of year. . .especially for artists. Really makes you
want to get out and paint! As for me, I grab my camera and start
shooting!
We have some nice events
coming up the next few months.
Jerry's Artarama will be at
the Gallery on Saturday April 5 from 10:00am - 12:00 noon. There
will be a Demonstration of the new inter-active Acrylics. Jerry's
will bring a truck load of supplies (a large variety) for us to
purchase and we will receive a 20% discount on Jerry's already low
prices. There will also be door prizes. Be sure to put this on your
schedule.
April 7 is our regular
meeting at noon.
May 5 is our Installation
luncheon and presentation of our 3 $500.00 scholarships. We will
have this meeting and lunch at Caffe' Capri in downtown Bryan. We
will meet in their upstairs banquet room. .
Be sure to read elsewhere in
the Newsletter about the donated art and Art Auction benefiting KAMU
and providing great advertisement for BVAL.
May will also be the month
that our Scholarship Recipients along with the ACBV scholarship
Recipients will have their show in the Gallery
The biggest event of the
year is our Children's Summer Program coming in June. Barbara
Gholson is the organizer for this great program. We started last
year with morning classes during the month of June and this year are
expanding the program to morning and afternoon classes. This is a
wonderful opportunity for Brazos Valley area children.
Be sure to get your
Registration for the LSAG Convention in soon. The registration sheet
and entry forms, along with other information were enclosed with you
March Newsletter. We will have some available at the April Meeting
but that is just 2 days before the dead line. You can contact Jeanne
Price or me if you have questions or need forms.
