President’s Palette

Happy Valentine's Day! Well, maybe it is just a few days early. . .But, be sure to remember your Sweetheart with a special token of your Love. From my years in the Baking/Cake Decorating business, I can promise you almost everyone likes to get a dozen or so Chocolate Dipped Strawberries. . .of course if you have a little more to spend a dozen or two Red Roses are very nice. Okay, when you see my husband it is all right to tell him what I have said! So what does this have to do with art you say?!. . . .Well, then paint a picture for your Loved One. . .or of your Loved One or Cupid? Hearts? Red Roses! Oh well enough about Valentine.

Be sure to get your art pieces to the Gallery on Friday, February 15 for the Judged Show on Saturday, February 16. You may enter 3 pieces. They must have been done in the last 2 years and not have won a previous ribbon.

We continue to get new members. . .almost weekly. . .that is so exciting!! And a special note to those new members: Be sure to try to make it to the monthly meetings so we can get to know you and you can enjoy the fellowship of other artists.

I hope you all saw our Thank You to the Arts Council in the Eagle. We received numerous thank you emails from the ACBV Board Members. And speaking of the ACBV, if you are not an individual member, why not consider joining. It is another good way to support the arts in the Brazos Valley.

Look forward to seeing you Monday at the meeting and remember we will vote on two additions to our By-laws. Also, bring a friend or two!!!

As a matter of Business: We will vote on 2 additions to our By-laws. Our demo artist is Tommy Humphrey. He will demonstrate acrylic on scratchboard and clayboard.

SPRING JURIED SHOW AND MEMBER SHOW

February 15^th 10:00-2:00 Register paintings for Juried Show. Hang juried show

February 16^th 10:00 Show is judged. 12:30 - Show opens to the public, reception follows

Friday, February 29^th Juried show ends. 9:00-12:00 pick up the artwork. You may pick up your paintings or register them again into the Member Show.

Friday, February 29^th Register and hang paintings for Member Show. Thursday, March 6^th Member Show reception. Friday, March 28^th – pick up painting from the

Member show.

The judge for our juried show is Dean Schneider. She lives in the Woodlands.
